Here, you will find definitions of some graphic design, SEO (search engine optimization), marketing, and social media terms. We are constantly adding new terms and definitions.
Design terms:
mockup:
Visual representation of a product, website or app that shows its final look and feel, but without interactive functionality.
font:
Is a specific style (like bold, italic, or 12pt) of a broader typeface (like Arial or Times New Roman for example).
serif font:
In graphic design, a serif font features small decorative lines (serifs) at the ends of letter strokes, conveying tradition, elegance, authority, and heritage, making them ideal for long-form print text (books, newspapers) for readability, while also signaling sophistication in branding and web design for established or classic aesthetics, contrasting with clean, modern sans-serifs.
sans serif font:
In graphic design, a sans serif font ("sans" meaning "without") is a typeface without the small decorative lines (serifs) at the ends of letter strokes, creating a clean, modern, minimalist look that's highly legible for digital screens, headlines, and branding. They convey simplicity, modernity, and friendliness, making them ideal for websites, apps, logos (like Helvetica or Futura), and wayfinding.
calligraphy fonts:
In graphic design, calligraphy fonts mimic beautiful, flowing handwriting, adding elegance, a personal touch, and a sense of history or luxury, often used for wedding invitations, branding, and formal documents to evoke sophistication, tradition, or artistry through fluid strokes, varying line weights (thick/thin), and decorative flourishes, setting them apart from standard typography.
